The Feminie Urge

The Last Dinner Party has released a new music video for their highly-anticipated single, 'The Feminine Urge.' Directed by visionary filmmaker Harv Frost, who helmed 'Caesar on a TV Screen' and 'My Lady of Mercy,' the video is set in an atmospheric ballet school, reminiscent of the eerie Tanz Akademie from the cult classic film Suspiria.

Spotlighting each band member in their own performance vignette, they eventually liberate themselves through individual acts of rebellion, within the walls of the institution suppressing them. The video delivers a poignant and compelling message about feminine generational trauma, drawing from lead singer Abigail Morris's personal experiences.

“It’s about my feelings about being a woman, and that beautiful, horrible realisation that your mother is also a human who’s mortal, fallible and in pain,” she explained in an interview with Dork.

When reflecting on her third project with the band, director Harv Frost said, "I wanted to create something that really embodied the feminine urge to throw a chair across a room, or peel all of your skin off," she explains. "Set against the backdrop of a prestigious dance school, it explores the intense expectations placed on women to achieve brilliance and perfection while expressing the raw desire to break free and disrupt the status quo."

'The Feminine Urge' is a stunning visual experience that’s anchored by a grandiose location and infused with a vintage aesthetic that perfectly complements the band's signature sound. Through a haunting blend of beauty and devastation, Harv has created an otherworldly atmosphere that captivates viewers from start to finish.
